Acoustic requirements are becoming more stringent

Since 1 August 2024, technical design documentation for multi-family residential buildings, single-family homes with two dwelling units, and semi-detached and terraced housing developments in Poland must include an analysis of the technical and material solutions intended to meet acoustic requirements.

The analysis defines the required sound insulation performance of building elements and identifies the construction products intended to achieve it. Acoustic solutions therefore need to be considered at the design stage, rather than left until procurement begins.

Minimum compliance does not guarantee comfort

Acoustic conditions that meet the Polish minimum requirements are considered acceptable by only around 30% of users for airborne sound and around 50% for impact sound. Developers who deliberately design to a higher acoustic standard offer residents a benefit they experience every day.

The acoustic analysis identifies the construction products intended to deliver the required sound insulation. The appropriate Kokon Pro product can be selected for a specific floor, wall or ceiling build-up and included in the documentation as part of the complete assembly.

Performance independent of the floor finish Performance independent of the floor finish

Performance independent of the floor finish

The sound insulation performance of floors separating apartments must be maintained regardless of the chosen floor finish. Carpet is not a substitute for a solution installed below the floor, while subsequent renovation work must not reduce the performance specified in the acoustic analysis. Acoustic performance becomes part of the building, not merely part of its interior design.

Higher standard you can build into your development offer

Finishing materials are visible during a property presentation. Acoustic comfort is experienced every day. It plays a major role in whether an apartment feels quiet, private and well designed after the residents move in.

Kokon Pro solutions can be incorporated into floor, wall and ceiling build-ups to help reduce sound transmission between homes. This gives developers a tangible specification feature that can support the development’s sales proposition and position the apartments within the premium segment.

Designed for predictable installation

On repetitive construction projects, profitability depends not only on material cost, but also on installation time, rework and selecting the right product for the system.

Rebond has a dense, non-fibrous structure, and boards intended for wall and ceiling systems can be cut on site. The available formats are suited to common interior construction applications.

Category built around a real customer problem

Customers rarely walk into a store asking for rebond. They usually want to reduce footfall noise from the floor above, conversations coming through a wall or sound transmitted through lightweight construction. They recognise the problem first and learn the name of the material later.

The Kokon Pro portfolio is organised by application area: floors, walls and ceilings. Clear product names and a focused range make it easier for sales teams to recommend a solution and for customers to select the right product for their planned work.
