In the bedroom, child's room, or relaxation area, carpet is part of everyday comfort. Floor 10 is a rebond foam underlay designed for carpets. It is worth considering when planning a floor where there is space for a 10 mm thick layer.

After installation, your downstairs neighbor will no longer hear footsteps and running. You get something else – a room where sound carries less. The soft, thick layer under the carpet absorbs some of the sound that previously reflected off the floor, and conversations
sound closer, the TV rings less.

The underlay is made from recycled polyurethane foam. The roll is 1 m wide and 10 m long, meaning it contains 10 m² of material. Before ordering, consider the height of the underlay together with the carpet, especially near doors and transitions to adjacent flooring. This model is not offered as a universal underlay for laminate flooring.

How to install Floor 10
Unroll it on a clean, dry subfloor, in strips butt-jointed, and tape the seams. The carpet is then installed on top according to the manufacturer's instructions - either glued or loose-laid.

Is recycled foam inferior to new foam?

Rebond foam has been used in carpet underlay and technical layers for decades. Its recycled origin does not diminish its value. Instead, it gives the material another use that is well suited to its properties.

Why does the material vary in colour and appearance?pytanie

Rebond foam is made from recovered foam production offcuts in different colours, so each batch may look slightly different.

Colour does not affect the material’s load-bearing performance, acoustic properties or behaviour. Sorting the offcuts by colour would increase the price without improving performance. Once installed, rebond foam remains concealed beneath the floor, behind plasterboard or above a suspended ceiling.

When choosing a product, focus on its intended application, thickness and density—not its colour pattern.

Will rebond foam become compacted over time?

Rebond foam is designed specifically for applications where the material needs to perform under sustained compression. Its high density and cohesive structure make it considerably more resistant to compaction than lightweight upholstery foams.

This is one reason why rebond foam has long been used as carpet underlay—a layer exposed to thousands of footsteps every day. When correctly specified, the underlay is designed to retain its function rather than collapse after only a few months beneath the floor.

Selecting the right product remains essential. Its thickness and density must be suited to the type of flooring, the construction and the expected loads.

Sound insulation and sound absorption - what is the difference?

If you can hear your neighbours, a television through the wall or footsteps from above, you need sound insulation. Its purpose is to reduce sound passing through a wall, floor or ceiling.

If, on the other hand, your voice reflects around the room, conversations are difficult to understand and the space sounds echoey, the problem is reverberation. In that case, you need materials that absorb sound within the room.

Lightweight pyramid-shaped acoustic foams can help reduce echo and reverberation, but they cannot replace insulation within a building element. Kokon Pro works inside the floor, wall or ceiling assembly, as part of the barrier separating one space from another.

What tools do I need to install Kokon Pro?

You do not need specialist machinery to cut Kokon Pro materials. Whether you are working with Floor, Wall Barrier, Wall Panel or Top, the basic tool kit includes:

  • a sharp utility knife with spare blades,
  • a tape measure,
  • a long ruler or straightedge,
  • a pencil,
  • a vacuum cleaner or broom for preparing the surface.

The remaining tools will depend on where the product is being installed.

When installing Floor, you will also need any tools specified by the manufacturer of the panels, carpet or other floor finish.

For Wall Barrier, you will need a spirit level and, depending on the adhesive selected, a trowel, spatula or adhesive applicator gun. Wall Barrier is bonded directly to the existing wall, so no tools are required to build an additional frame.

For Wall Panel and Top, you will need a standard drylining tool kit, including a drill driver, drill or rotary hammer, metal snips and a spirit level. When installing a suspended ceiling, a laser level, stable stepladder or small work platform will also be very useful.
